Grun’ is a collection inspired by a mythical being said to dwell in the ancient wilderness of Polesia, in northern Ukraine. Grun’ embodies timelessness, peace, and the wisdom of the natural world.
For Victoria Yakusha, Grun’ is more than a name — it’s a spirit. The landscapes of Polesia, with their moss-covered grounds and misty air, preserve echoes of humanity’s earliest stories. They are ancient and ever-renewing, constantly transforming yet eternal in their rhythm. This duality — the stillness of time and the pulse of life — lies at the heart of the Grun’ collection.
Each piece reflects Yakusha’s animistic philosophy, where objects, spaces, and materials possess a living essence. The furniture seems almost alive: its shapes recall forest creatures, roots, and flowing hills, blurring the line between the natural and the human-made. Crafted from natural materials the collection includes an armchair, bench, bed, tables, and lamps — each an expression of the forest’s spirit.
The Grun’ “Dewlit” chair and armchair stand out with their hand-embroidered beaded details, reminiscent of morning dew glistening on moss as dawn breaks through the forest canopy. Their whimsical forms — with ear-like extensions and soft green upholstery — evoke a magical being resting among the trees.
The Grun’ bench continues this theme of animism, its flowing silhouette suggesting organic growth and quiet strength. The bed, anchored by a stable base and rising forms, reflects the cycle of renewal — its geometry symbolizing roots in the earth and branches reaching toward the sky.
Among the most striking pieces is the limited-edition Grun’ table — only twelve are made. Its hand-carved wooden tabletop recalls a sunlit clearing embraced by hills and boulders, a place of gathering for the spirits of the woods. The base is sculpted from ZTISTA, Yakusha’s signature eco-conscious material made from clay, natural fibers, and an organic biopolymer. Together, they merge the tactile warmth of wood with the textured earthiness of ZTISTA, echoing bark, stone, and soil.
The Grun’ lamp brings another layer of magic. Combining ZTISTA with hand-blown glass crafted using the traditional Ukrainian technique known as gutnitstvo, each lamp is entirely unique. When lit, it glows softly, like the light filtering through trees in a twilight forest — gentle, alive, and deeply human.
At its core, Grun’ is a dialogue between nature, craft, and spirit. Each piece channels the energy of the land and the hands that shaped it, bridging Ukrainian folk heritage with contemporary design. In this collection, the forest becomes a living collaborator, infusing every form with the strength and ancient wisdom of the earth.
