Miami, FL — In 2025, YAKUSHA STUDIO completed the interior design of a 1,100 sq ft retail space in Miami. Designed by Victoria Yakusha, the project explores spatial atmosphere, material tactility, and the emotional dimension of minimalism.
Rather than focusing on display, the concept centers on the architecture of experience — how light, texture, proportion, and movement shape perception. The space becomes a study of “live minimalism,” Yakusha’s philosophy that merges natural materials, cultural memory, and contemporary clarity.
Soft, sun-washed tones respond to Miami’s climate, while the layout is structured to guide visitors through a sequence of sensory moments. Expansive glazing introduces natural light as a primary architectural element, complemented by precise spotlighting that emphasizes volume and sculptural silhouettes.
Material contrast plays a defining role. Hand-textured natural surfaces are juxtaposed with restrained metal shelving, creating a dialogue between warmth and precision, tradition and future. At the heart of the interior, a planted herb installation introduces scent and tactility — reinforcing the multisensory character of the project.
The furniture pieces integrated into the space function not merely as objects, but as architectural components that shape rhythm and circulation. Forms inspired by water, sun, and organic growth soften the geometry of the interior, bringing fluidity to an otherwise minimal composition.
The result is a contemporary retail interior where atmosphere, material authenticity, and spatial storytelling take precedence over ornament — a space that balances European sensibility with Miami’s luminous energy.
